ChicagoVerseUniteD: Chicago Scene Salvation

The CVU 2011 Forecast: Color Radio

For this month’s ChicagoVerseUniteD cover story, every day in January will preview a different local artist’s plans for 2011. Today: Color Radio!

Color Radio

Color Radio last checked in with 2009′s mature and mellow Be Safe, Beware EP, a brief four-song effort showcasing the indie outfit’s subtle but sophisticated blending of keys and guitars. Now in 2011, the four-piece unit is set to drop its debut full length Architects this spring, eyeing a May or June release. Speaking to CVU about the album, frontman Jonathan Ifergan revealed the following statement via email. “This album is more raw and gritty, it’s more like fresh squeezed oj with the pulp in it haha [sic] compared to the manufactured stuff. There’s strings, grand piano, tons of reverb and effects on the Rhodes and guitar and more vocal harmonies. There’s also variety, from uptempo to down-tempo tracks, in your face Godzilla style guitars, dreamy shimmery keys, and boomy ground shaking drums.”

According to the group’s management company 4 Ohm, recording of the record has wrapped and mixing is currently underway, with the outfit currently contemplating listening parties. The tracklisting for the album is as follows below.
