As part of the 2012 Chicago Restaurants and Nightlife Survey, CVU has been selected to take part in the inaugural Zagat Chicago Blog Hop. As such, the site will be reflecting on some of the finest dining destinations as they relate to the Chicago music community.
For a surefire night of music in Pilsen, it’s no secret that South Side bar Simone’s (home of this year’s past The Streets Are Hot Tonight events) always delivers. What might not be as known, however, is that the bar also serves a solid selection of menu items, including one of Chicago’s best burgers. While specialty burgers in the vein of Kuma’s are currently all the rage, Simone’s serves up a straightforward no nonsense burger that makes a strong case for tradition. Chipotle and Pilsen burger options are also available.
Meanwhile, up north, Schubas neighboring operation The Harmony Grill is a perfect place to catch a meal before or after a show at the venue. Those looking for a double dose of comfort food need look no further than the combination macaroni and cheese/chili dish. Mixing two hearty all American eats, The Harmony Grill combined two great tastes that taste great together.
Not that the best spots to combine music and food are limited to Chicago city limits. Those out to catch a show at Space in Evanston can enjoy a late night cafe selection at Kafein, a popular study spot for the Northwestern crowd. Featuring an array of creative coffee and milkshake selections, Kafein offers the perfect fix for a late night buzz, be it sugar or caffeine.
