Following the group posting the track earlier this summer, The Hood Internet have now released a new video for their track “Won’t F— Us Over.” The cut features BBU and Annie Hart of Au Revoir Simone, and comes from the group’s upcoming full length debut, FEAT, which features all original productions. Find that odd and unsettling treatment below, and look for FEAT to drop on October 2nd via Decon Records.
It was all the way back in January of 2011 when STV SLV first informed CVU about The Hood Internet‘s plans to release an album of original material. Set to drop on September 18th via Decon Records, FEAT will be comprised entirely of original productions, moving away from the group’s predilection towards mash ups and remixes. Now, the first single from that record has hit the web. Titled ”Won’t Fuck Us Over,” the cut features fellow local talent BBU, as well as vocals courtesy of Annie Hart of Au Revoir Simone. Download that track via the link below.
Loyal Divide Post ‘Vision / Revision’ Remix Effort, Featuring Treatments From Netherfriends, BBU, And More
Earlier this year, CVU premiered a live EP and video from Loyal Divide, in advance of the group’s Vision / Revision remix effort. Now, that collection has posted online, featuring talent like Chicago’s own BBU and Netherfriends putting their own spin on the group’s uneasy anthem, “Vision Vision.” Preview the expansive and comprehensive Vision / Revision project below, and catch Loyal Divide live April 21st at Bottom Lounge.
It’s been a busy time for BBU, even just since the group was recently on the CVU podcast. Last month, the activist hip hop act headlined Schubas for their bell hooks mixtape release event. Ruby Hornet was onsite at that event, and captured this footage of the group performing “Spaghetti” with Mic Terror.
Now, BBU has been making the rounds in some pretty elite circles, from Pitchfork to Forbes(!), all in support of the group’s bell hooks effort. From that offering comes the video for “The Hood,” featuring GLC, which premiered over at SPIN. Take a ride through Chicago’s inner neighborhoods in that clip below, following BBU’s CVU podcast interview in support of bell hooks, and followed by a behind the scenes look at “The Hood.” And catch BBU live at SHUT UP and DANCE: Mayhem at The Mid, this Friday, March 9th at The Mid (RSVP here).
This week on the ChicagoVerseUniteD Cover Story Series audio podcast: Epic, Illekt, and Jasson Perez of BBU! The trio sit down with the CVU podcast the night before their mixtape release show at Schubas to discuss their new mixtape bell hooks, the influence of the activist author bell hooks on the effort, their thoughts on the Chicago hip hop scene right now, and how the Occupy Movement fueled their latest work. Find the bell hooks link and the BBU podcast below, followed by “Outlaw Culture,” “Beau Sia,” and “The Wrong Song” off bell hooks, and a behind the scenes look at the “The Hood” featuring GLC. And catch BBU live tonight, Thursday, February 23rd at Schubas (tix) for the bell hooks mixtape release show.

For this month’s ChicagoVerseUniteD cover story, every day in January will preview 2012 plans for a Chicago talent or tastemaker. Today: BBU!
Though the group has been keeping busy with sizable accomplishments like performing at Lollapalooza in 2010 and then North Coast Music Festival in 2011, conscious-minded hip hop outfit BBU haven’t released a new mixtape since 2010′s Fear Of A Clear Channel Planet. That changes next month, with the release of the act’s forthcoming mixtape effort, bell hooks (“Named after the author bell hooks,” the group explains).
“We got a lot in store for 2012,” the act informs CVU. “From a full length project coming out to collabs with artist we have dreamt of rocking with since were we shorties, all that and then some releasing in 2012.” Speaking of their new music, the group offers, “It Sounds like Malcolm X and Maya Angelou discussing the state of the nation at a Brick Squad Concert.”
Catch BBU live on February 23rd at Schubas for the bell hooks release show. And preview tracks from that effort below, including a link to the download page for “Kurt De La Rocha” (via Ruby Hornet), “Outlaw Culture” (via Gowhere Hip Hop), and “Jumpers” (via Prefix), all following the act’s CVU podcast interview from this past summer’s North Coast Music Festival, and followed by a BBU promo video.
