The CVU 2011 Forecast: Volcanoes Make Islands!
For this month’s ChicagoVerseUniteD cover story, every day in January will preview a different local artist’s plans for 2011. Today: Volcanoes Make Islands!

Though the band recently made the decision to cancel its Lincoln Hall show scheduled for this past Thursday, the simultaneously cacophonous and harmonic noise rock outfit Volcanoes Make Islands are anything but out of the game. In fact, it’s exactly the opposite, as vocalist and guitarist Henry Bianco affirms. ”The start of a new year finds Volcanoes Make Islands in pre-production on an as-yet-untitled full length work,” the singer tells CVU. “Brad and Henry are currently working to decipher the sundry tapestry of demos they’ve accumulated prior to and since the release of their last EP Sick City.” Blanco projects a late spring release for the record. In the meantime, download the raucous and rambunctious Sick City effort, recorded with the assistance of The Field Auxiliary‘s Dan Smart, for free at the group’s Bandcamp.
