Rise Against Go Agricultural In New Treatment For Dylan’s “The Ballad of Hollis Brown”

Posted in Rise Against by Jaime Black on February 20th, 2012

Rise Against

Earlier this month, CVU reported on Rise Against‘s cover of Bob Dylan‘s “The Ballad of Hollis Brown,” off the Chimes Of Freedom compilation. Now, an official video has hit the web. Find the group’s description below.

“The Ballad of Hollis Brown” was about one farmer who falls on hard times, but I don’t think anyone from that time period could imagine how our entire agricultural system would fall on hard times. We wanted to make a video that would let the audience know that these problems aren’t exclusive to the time period Bob Dylan was singing about, and in fact they’ve grown exponentially. A farmer’s enemies aren’t just drought or floods anymore, they are now everything from over-powerful corporations to short-sighted immigration policies.

Watch that agricultural-focused clip below, and head to MTV for a new interview with Rise Against frontman Tim McIlrath about the cover.
